Do you like working outside? Getting your hands dirty? Do you love hiking? Well you're in luck, we are looking for someone like you to join our Trail Maintenance crew for our Summer season. If you’re a seasoned trail builder, great! If you’re newer to trail building, but have what it takes, our seasoned Crew members will train successful candidates.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintaining our network of trails to keeping them in great shape for the community.
• Ensure communication lines are open amongst the Trail Crew, other departments and with our guests.
• Conduct guided hiking for Island Lake guests.
• Building and construction of trails and trail features such as bridges and boardwalk.
• Build and repair water bars to ensure proper drainage of trails.
• Remove debris and garage found along the trails.
• Install and maintain Trail signs
• Assist Shop Team with various building and grounds tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience using trail maintenance tools: trimmer, side-discharge lawn mower, chainsaw, brush saw, Pulaski, McLeod, rake, pick, shovel, lopper, hand pruner, pruning saw, handsaw, pole pruner/saw, axe, weed whip, crowbar, wheelbarrow, paint brush and power tools.
• Minimum OFA level 3.
• Hiking guide certification (preferred).
• Chain saw certification (preferred).
• Previous wild fire suppression experience with valid S-100 an asset.
• Able to safely operate an ATV/Side by Side.
• Be able to work in all types of weather from hot and humid to wet and cold with physical demands from light exertion to arduous exertion depending upon the task.
• Ability to navigate uneven terrain, including hills, slopes, grades and wetlands in both forested and open areas.
• Accommodate a flexible work schedule (weekends and holidays)
